WELCOME TO CHILLI RENTALS LTD.
We are a small family run business based in Auckland.
2014 sees a new season of Chilli Campers to rent as well as to buy.
We have been busy this year preparing some great vehicles to a high standard for those who prefer to rent than buy.

Whether you rent or buy, we are always here to help and advise you when you come to New Zealand.
*We can pick you up at the airport and return you there at the end of your trip whether you rent or buy your camper from Chilli Rentals*
We restrict the use of our Chilli Rentals Campers to the NORTH ISLAND but in due course we hope to cover the South Island. If you BUY your camper you can take it to South Island of course.
If your stay in New Zealand is for an extended period and you buy your camper, we can * buy back* your camper at the end of your adventure. Ask us for details.
Chilli Campers include much of what you will need for your trip. We DO NOT charge you extra for chairs and other essentials. We include 4 gas cylinders to get you going and a Sat-Nav is also included. Check out our list of included items that some other companies charge as extras.

To hire one of our Chilli Campers you will need a full driving licence issued in New Zealand or your country of residence but it must be readable in English. If it is not readable in English an International Driving Licence is required to accompany your home licence.
A deposit of 20% of the total agreed hire cost or a minimum of $450 is required at the time of booking. The booking is not secured until the deposit is paid.
Chilli Rentals reserves the right to retain a $400 deposit for one month after the end of your hire period to settle any fines or tickets issued by local authorities and police. We will return this deposit to you if there is no claim by them.
You may start your hire in Auckland and drop off your camper elsewhere but there may be relocation costs payable by you.
Cancellation arrangements.
A secured hire can be cancelled with the following charges –
Up to 30 days prior to your pick up of the camper – 50% of your deposit.
forfeited. Within 30 days of your camper pick up – 100% of your deposit forfeited.
All hire costs are to be paid in full prior to you taking delivery of the Chilli Camper.
Comprehensive insurance is included in the daily hire charge of your camper however there is an Excess of $1500 on all claims for drivers 25 years and over, €2000 for drivers 21 – 24 years of age and €3000 for drivers 18 – 20 years and this Excess is covered by your Bond.
This Excess is secured by an imprint of your credit card and will be debited if you fail to observe the conditions of hire or are involved in an accident.
Hirers may reduce this Excess by the payment of a daily sum at the start of the hire period. This total charge must be paid at the commencement of the hire.

Conditions of hire –
* you must return the camper in a clean condition.
* with all equipment intact
* without damage or any accident involvement.
* without liability to any third party.
* with a full tank of fuel ( petrol or diesel )
* all traffic offences paid for and any offences that subsequently arrive at our office will be paid from your registered credit card. You will be notified of this and a copy of the infringement will be provided to you.
OUR INSURANCE DOES NOT COVER –
* driving on Ninety Mile Beach Road ( Northland) and North of Colville Township ( Coromandel) or any beach or rough terrain and any other road that is deemed unsuitable from time to time by local or territorial authorities and posted as such by them.
* damage caused by submersion whether salt or fresh water and however caused.
* tyre and windscreen damage however caused.
* damage caused while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
* rescue costs associated with being bogged down or stranded however caused.
* mechanical damage caused by failure to check engine oil, water levels and other vital levels indicated by visible or audible warnings.
* wilful damage by you or other parties.
Roadside Rescue
In the event of a mechanical problem you have the use of AA roadside rescue.
Any repairs deemed necessary by them or their agent in excess of € 50 and deemed by them to be our responsibility will require our authorisation and this MUST be obtained prior to repairs being made.
We will arrange payment directly with the repair agent should we authorise the repair or you will arrange with us how the repairs will be paid for PRIOR to repairs being made.
AA roadside rescue does NOT include flat batteries or bogged down and stranded vehicles. These problems are YOUR responsibility and must be paid by you at the time of need.
Animals
Animals are NOT allowed in our campers except for seeing eye dogs for the blind and by prior arrangement.
We reserve the right to substitute your camper either prior or during your hire period. Any substitution will, as far as is possible, be comparable with your original choice of camper but circumstances may prevent this. We will do our utmost to fulfil your wishes but we cannot guarantee a particular substitute camper.
If due to unforeseen circumstances we are unable to fulfil our obligations to you and your rental period is reduced then you will be entitled to a refund of any monies paid for the period of the rental that was not provided.
Our day is a calendar day NOT a 24 hour day.
Chilli Rentals shall not be liable for any other costs, charges or damages whether consequential or not, as a result of delay in providing or failure to provide a camper van.
You undertake to use the portable battery pack for interior lighting and charging of phone batteries etc when parked up and to recharge the pack during periods of engine running as indicated by the state of charge LEDs on the pack. If you run the camper main battery down overnight you may have to start the engine with the battery pack or call the AA. They will charge you for coming out. You are responsible for this charge.
Fridge ( if fitted )
The fridge works on the main battery whilst the camper engine is running. DO NOT leave the keys in the ignition when not driving. When you park up for the night etc there is no power to the fridge and you can use the supplied power lead to connect to 240v mains facility at camp sites if you park up where this is available. This will keep your fridge running and prevent a battery drain down.
DO NOT LEAVE THE KEYS IN THE IGNITION WHEN PARKED UP AS THE FRIDGE WILL DRAIN THE MAIN BATTERY !!!
We understand that in the course of your New Zealand trip you may incur the odd scrape or superficial damage to the camper.. Ring us should this happen and send us a picture so we are aware. Prior to you starting your trip we will make a short video of the condition of the camper and compare this video with the condition on your return. This is the fairest way.
